Annual reports

Scope and Content

Annual reports of the Sadler’s Wells Theatre and its governing bodies. These include joint annual reports for the Old Vic Theatre (also referred to as Royal Victoria Hall) and Sadler’s Wells during the period when the management of the two theatres was shared. The set of reports is incomplete. The reports also concern the ballet and opera companies and school which were part of the Sadler’s Wells Theatre (and Old Vic) organisation. These companies include: Sadler’s Wells Opera Company, Old Vic Theatre Company, Sadler’s Wells Theatre Ballet Company and Ballet School. The governing bodies represented in the reports include the Sadler’s Wells Foundation, Sadler’s Wells Trust Ltd, Old Vic and Sadler’s Wells Trust Ltd, Old Vic Trust Ltd and Royal Victoria Hall Foundation. The reports contain information typical of annual reports including reports on the activities of the theatre and of the ballet and opera companies based at the theatre, financial tables and reports (including balance sheet, details of income and expenditure). Other information often includes lists of performances held that year (some include also details of the performers and others involved), lists of governors, directors and managerial staff, and reports on the work of associated organisations (such as Vic-Wells Association).
