Administrative / Biographical History

These papers relate to a statistical survey of Swansea carried out 1838-1839. The returns for the survey included information on the description of properties (but not the address), the name, profession and religion, affiliation of occupants and the number of male and female residents. Included in the archive is a copy of the 1838-1839 survey, related papers, statements and reports and a 'Survey of the town and franchise of Swansea by George Jones' which detailed the occupier, proprietor, description, gross rental and rateable value of all properties 1837.
