Scope and Content

A manuscript copy of the agreement made between Cambridge University and the town in 1503. This reproduction was made for Roger, 2nd Lord North (1531-1600), Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire.

Administrative / Biographical History

The university's history can be dated back to the early thirteenth century, when scholars congregated in the city for the purpose of study. The first college, Peterhouse, was established in 1284.

Open for consultation by holders of a Reader's Ticket valid for the Manuscripts Reading Room.
