The answer of John Thomas, (illegible), and Morgan ap Hoell to the bill of complaint of John (?Harry) identifying the piece of land under dispute as part of Portman Meadow (Portmead) which the Burgesses of Swansea have used for over 200 years by the gift of William Bowes, Duke of Norfolk and Lord of Gower, rather than the property of the Hospital of Swansea, of which Richard Rawlings was the warden, ruling that the Burgesses of Swansea should continue to occupy the land. 1548
