Letter: [T.S. Morris] 43 Parlaiment Street London, to Rev. H. Davies Owen, Penmynydd

Scope and Content

LETTER: [T.S. Morris] 43 Parlaiment Street London, to Rev. H. Davies Owen, Penmynydd, referring firstly to the adoption of a scheme for the proper management of the almshouse, the present trustees not being a legally constituted body but practically self appointed; and secondly to the question whether the almshouse is ecclesiastical or not. He has not expressed any opinion on this but on the Wynne charity which the charity commissioners ruled was non- ecclesiastical. Apparently some questions had been raised about this charity which had been given to persons in receipt of parish relief, a practice not usually followed, and there was also a suggestion that it should be given to a clothing club. He suggests that he should write to the secretary of the Charity Commission for clarification on these matters.
