PETITION from the inhabitants of the almshouse to the justices concerning certain stoppages of their allowances amounting to £7.10s. They were told that this money was to help pay for repairs to the almshouse and for the cost of their burials but they questioned the legality of the deductions. They also believed that they should be paid quarterly and not half yearly as was the custom.
Endorsed: COPY RULES of the almshouse, one of which states that the pensioners should be paid quarterly and the others deal with the right of the governors to make a deduction from annual allowance.
