Scope and Content

Letters and papers of and relating to the poet Pete Laver, who was librarian at Dove Cottage. Includes: a postcard from Pete Laver referring to a recent meeting with David Wright; printed pamphlets, cartoons and artwork by Laver; a 'Poets for Peace' poster advertising a Morden Tower reading to benefit CND in March 1983, which includes a poem by Laver [and was probably forwarded to Lindop by Gareth Reeves in letter GCL/1/1/111/5]; a newsletter and circular issued by the Wordsworth Trust reporting on Laver's sudden death in 1983, shortly before he was due to take up a post as Librarian to the English Faculty in Oxford; two letters from his widow, Mags; and a photograph of his children.

The pamphlets and poems by Laver include: 'On the mountain: in memory of Tom Edmonds 1944-71' [also forwarded by Gareth Reeves in letter GCL/1/1/111/5]; Painted smile; poems from the show (anthology of poems performed by the Brewery Poets at Kendal in October 1980, illustrated by Laver, published by Tyneside Free Press Workshop); Water, glass the toad of guilt (Pig Press, Durham, 1981); and two copies of 'Rowing round Belle Isle: for Jake 23.8.83' (Pig Press, 1984)
