The collection forms part of the archive of the British Clothing Industry Association (MSS.222), in which the records of various predecessor and related organisations are contained.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Apparel and Fashion Industry's Association was formed in 1948 when the British Fashion Trade and Apparel Manufacturers' Association was renamed (MSS.222/APW). In 1978, it merged with the British Mantle Manufacturers' Association (MSS.222/APM) to form the British Apparel Manufacturers' Association. BAMA joined the British Clothing Industry Association in January 1982.
