FR Leavis - JP Brockbank Papers

Scope and Content

Series of correspondence between literary critic F.R. Leavis, who held a visiting professorship at York from c. 1965-1976, and Professor Philip Brockbank, the founding head of York’s English Department, for the period 1964-78. Includes some later transcripts and editorial notes supplied by the Department of English and Related Studies.


The letters and cuttings are arranged chronologically and transcripts are included with some editorial matter.

Acquisition Information

The Leavis papers were transferred to the University Archive by the Department of English and Related Literature in February 2011.
