Scope and Content

From writer and researcher Colin Speakman, who in /1 refers to: his new job as Field Services Officer in the National Park in the Yorkshire Dales; Nicholson's The Lakers and the comments it contains about national parks; Nicholson's Five Rivers; and his own poetry (he encloses copy typescripts of some of his own poems). In /2 Speakman looks forward to a possible visit to Nicholson in the summer, and asks if he would be interested in contributing a piece to The Countryman at the suggestion of Chris Hall, the editor. He also reports on his own work, including the good notices he received for his Dales Anthology and Sedgwick biography [Adam Sedgwick: Geologist and Dalesman (1982)], and on home and family news. He asks after Yvonne [obviously unaware of her death two years previously].

Dated at: Grassington and Skipton, North Yorks.

Typescript with autograph; /1 includes envelope.
