Letter and card

Scope and Content

/1 is a letter from poet Kathleen [Raine] (b. 1908) praising Nicholson's The Old Man of the Mountains: she refers to its timeless quality, its similarity to the old anonymous morality plays, the dialect and the countryside in the play, and expresses her opinion that Nicholson is "one of the artist-craftsmen whose trace is to be found all over England, in carved stone, from gargoyles and angels, to slip-ware and stone drinking-troughs". /2 is a printed Christmas card containing a poem by Kathleen Raine.
