Life in New Zealand 1982 (II)

Scope and Content

Coloured and black and white photographs. When planning the exhibition 'Commonwealth in Focus,' the Royal Commonwealth Society Library requested material from Commonwealth Governments and these photographs were sent in response. The majority of the photographs, all of which are of high quality, are by the National Publicity Studios, Wellington. They have been numbered consecutively and arranged in twelve groups: Agriculture; Forestry and Fisheries; Antarctica; Arts and Crafts; Cities and Towns; Defence; Education; Housing; Industry; Landscape; People; Science; Sport. Titles are derived from the captions on the backs of the prints.
Many of these prints correspond to slides at Y3089AA. A comparison (probably not exhaustive) has been made and the list marked as follows:
Simple numbers, indicating identical pictures 62
Numbers with 'R', indicating identical pictures, but reversed (N.B. It is probable that the prints, rather than the slides, are correct) 13
Numbers with 'S', indicating similar pictures, i.e. not identical but taken at the same spot or on the same occasion 4
Unnumbered, indicating no comparable picture 57
Black and white prints 13
TOTAL 149
