Ganda Bandhan is a ceremony or ritual which establishes the formal relationship between a guru and disciple, 'a formal acceptance of the student and disciple by his guru'. This film is of Sri Pratap Pawar (guru) and Akram Khan (disciple) taking part in the Ganda Bandhan ceremony, 1 Oct 1989. The ceremony is performed on stage and is witnessed by an audience. After the ceremony the stage is cleared and Sri Pratap Pawar and Akram Khan perform, with Pawar instructing Khan in new steps. The remainder of the film includes performances by other students of Sri Pratap Pawar including Khan's sister Moshida Khan.
