Administrative / Biographical History

Arthur Francis Henry Marker was born 13th February 1938. He took his degree at King's College, London, in 1960 getting special honours in botany. He took a Ph.D. at Westfield College in 1963. He was appointed at the Freshwater Biological Association in 1966 as an Algologist. In 1987 he was appointed to act as the Radiation Protection Supervisor at the River Laboratory for the Freshwater Biological Association.

Experience gained included three years postgraduate experience into the algal physiology of marine phytoplankton, three years post doctoral experience into the algal physiology and biochemistry of phtosynthetic carbon fixation, three months part time teaching experience in microbiology in a polytechnic (London) and fifteen years experience in river ecology specializing in the production dynamics of benthic algae.
