Co-operative Retail Services Limited took over the responsibilities of co-operative societies having difficulty surviving for various reasons, for example in the face of the trend for out-of town superstores from the 1960s onwards. Local autonomous co-operative societies were reduced to be replaced by large regional societies.
This society was based in Swansea [Abertawe].
