Administrative / Biographical History

The firm of Davies Brothers, Slate Merchants, of Porthmadog, Caernarfonshire, was established in 1879, following the transfer of the company from Jonathon Davies, slate merchant, to the Davies brothers. Davies Brothers ordered slate from many quarries including Diphwys Quarry and Wrysgan Quarry, Merionethshire, and Bugail Quarry, Caernarfonshire.

Arranged into two groups: Group One, general company records, daily company records, and miscellaneous; and Group Two, Davies Brothers records, Diphwys Slate Quarry records, and Wrysgan Slate Quarry records.
