The outer folder encloses dried specimens of Galanthus and related manuscript notes and diagrams, sub-divided into the following sections:

‘Snowdrop the Flower’, ‘Aestivation’ and ‘Leaves’, comprising dried specimens and manuscript notes, enclosed in covers and pages of ‘The Magazine of Enfield Grammar School’, 1949-1951. Inside the magazine, specimens are placed in further catalogue covers and pages. Most are annotated with details of specimens and some are dated, 1940s

‘Vernation: Parker’s diagrams’, comprising watercolour diagrams of plication by Gerard Parker, 1952, diagrams by Bowles and manuscript notes, 1952. Diagrams are enclosed in an annotated envelope

‘Freaks’, comprising dried specimens, correspondence and manuscript notes, enclosed in covers and pages of ‘The Magazine of Enfield Grammar School’, 1944-1945. Inside the magazine, specimens are placed in further folds of paper, catalogue pages and folded letters, including from Ruth McConnel, 1951. Most are annotated with details of specimens and some are dated, 1935-1952

A second section labelled ‘Freaks’ comprises dried specimens and papers enclosed between pieces of card. Specimens are placed in folds of paper and catalogues. Most are annotated with details of specimens and dates, 1952

‘Scharlokii Boyd’, comprising dried specimens enclosed in a book catalogue, 1950. Specimens are placed in folds of paper and catalogue pages. Most are annotated with details of specimens, undated
