Letter sending Christmas greetings to Bowles from ‘vos proteges Belges de Canister Lodge’, 1914. Other papers comprise a letter from the editor of ‘The Garden’ asking for advice relating to improvements to the publication, 1917, and manuscript note in Bowles’ hand with reference to Pliny, undated. Canister Lodge, Enfield, was a private property; it is possible that it was used to house refugees following the invasion of Belgium by Germany in Aug 1914 [First World War]
