WHITE BROTHERS OF COWLEY ROAD, OXFORD, TAILORS & OUTFITTERS

Scope and Content

The business seems to have been started in 151 Cowley Road in Oxford in 1898 by Albert White. It also established premises in 136 Cowley Road as well as at 15 & 16 Ivor Place in London. The shop at 151 later became The Oxford Bargain Stores ('men's outfitters and footwear specialists'), still part of White Brothers. The firm closed in the early 1990s.

The collection was given to Oxfordshire Record Office in January 1992 (accession number 3402).
