Scope and Content

Correspondence sent to Ursula Moray Williams from various authors, illustrators, publishers and other individuals active in the literary field. Williams appears to have been a very dedicated correspondent, and to have become very good friends with many of the people she came into contact with as a professional author, like editors, agents, illustrators and other authors. Consequently, much of the correspondence in the series combines elements of business, for example discussions about the inclusion of work in various anthologies, with more personal elements, such as news about family, holidays, visitors, and health matters.

Where the volume of correspondence from a particular individual is significant it has been filed separately, and these files have been arranged within the series alphabetically, with the correspondence in each file arranged chronologically. The final file in the series constitutes a miscellaneous collection of letters from correspondents who only wrote once or twice to Williams, and the correspondence in the file has been arranged chronologically.
