'Hurricanes' (4 volumes)

Draft manuscripts and typescripts for a collection of short stories by Ursula Moray Williams, submitted to Chatto & Windus for use in a series of Backward Readers, designed to help develop better literacy skills in children with poor reading ability. The stories were published in 1971 as a four-volume series entitled 'Hurricanes', under the individual titles 'Traffic Jam' (vol. I), 'Man on a Steeple' (vol. II), 'Mrs Townsend's Robber' (vol. III), and 'Out of the Shadows' (vol. IV). Not all of the stories in the file were selected by Chatto & Windus for publication in the series, and some of the stories which were eventually published in the series do not appear here. As none of the stories in the file are dated, they are arranged alphabetically by title.
