Grangethorpe Hospital

Scope and Content

This subseries consists of papers relating to orthopaedic surgery at Grangethorpe Hospital. For more information about Platt's work at Grangethorpe, see the historical file at PLA/12/1. These papers include clinical records and summaries and analyses, particularly relating to nerve injuries treated at Grangethorpe by Platt, firstly working as captain in the RAMC and later working for the Ministry of Pensions. Item /4, and possibly other items in this sub-series, was sent to Platt by Dr Walmesley in October 1929 when the Hospital closed. They had been discovered in the cellar by Walmesley, the superintendent. The subseries contains an operation book, a file of case notes, a file of descriptions of operations, and two files of summaries and analysis.
