The 1942 Club was founded in 1942 by Platt, Harold Himsworth and other heads of university departments to discuss in an informal setting the possible effects of the NHS. The Club evolved into a 'thank-tank' for clinical professors. The records of the 1942 Club are held at the Royal College of Physicians [GB-0113 MS-1942CLUB]. This file includes a typescript history of the 1942 Club based on the minutes of the Club, by O.L. Wade, July 1975. The file also contains a computer printout on foolscap paper of a list of members of the 1942 Club, December 1985. Apparently Platt had a file of correspondence relating to the formation of the Club which was lent to Robert Platt in 1953, but the whereabouts of this file is now unknown.
