Typescript verse. Jackson wrote this lengthy poem following the death of his second wife, Joan Hart. In a note to the reader (enclosed), he describes it as 'a chronological account of the early stages of grief and of the slow, fluctuating process of healing'. In 1993 he wrote a companion piece 'A Marriage, Retrospect'.
