Administrative / Biographical History
Castell Slate Quarry, Plasgwynant, Beddgelert, Caernarfonshire, dates from the 18th century or earlier. In 1862, the quarry was part of the Vawdrey family estate in Caernarfonshire. Benjamin Llewelyn Vawdrey, of Middlewich, Cheshire, attempted to lease the quarry to several parties, including Richard Harrison, solicitor, of Holywell, Flintshire.
