Administrative / Biographical History

The Managers' and Overlookers' Society was founded in 1912 as the Yorkshire Managers' and Overlookers' Society. It changed its name to the Managers' and Overlookers' Society in 1921. The union was for supervisory craft grades in the wool textile industry. The Society became an autonomous section of the Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs (ASTMS) in 1977
