Scope and Content

Mainly correspondence between Peter Slade and the Ryder Cheshire Mission, regarding a joint project to provide "Dramusart" (Drama, Music and the Arts) for the disabled at the Peter Slade Centre for Drama and Therapy in London. There appears to have been a great deal of uncertainty as to the level of involvement required from the various parties, and eventually the General Committee collapsed under the strain of internal feuds, leaving Slade and his wife to fund and run the London centre on their own for a number of years. The letters show, however, that friendly cooperation still existed between the Slades and the Mission afterwards.

There are also a number of letters from Peter Slade to charitable bodies, such as the Nuffield Foundation, the Charles Henry Foyle Trust and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, attempting to raise funds for his work.
