Scope and Content

Material relating to the Joint Committee for Drama, the organisation responsible for the funding of facilities for the study of Drama, both adult and youth, throughout the country, whilst Peter Slade was working in Staffordshire. The County Drama Advisers were appointed under the powers of the Joint Committee, which was made up of members of the British Drama League, the Carnegie United Kingdom Trust, the County Councils' Association, the National Council of Social Service, the National Federation of Women's Institutes and the National Union of Townswomen's Guilds.

Includes a memorandum explaining the origins and purposes of the Joint Committee, and various reports and minutes of the meetings and conferences of related bodies.

Peter Slade has attached a long note to this file, giving an explanation of his own position with relation to the Joint Committee and Staffordshire County Council.
