DRAFT LETTER: [T. F. Evans] to Mr Boyce. The colour works which Mr Boyce mentions were erected many years ago by a Mr Parry for the purpose of producing Venetian Red and various shades of yellow ochre. He styled the works the St. Eilian Colour Works. Mr Evans bought it from Mr Parry's son twenty years previously. he describes the material produced at the works, including purple shine which is used for painting the bottom of iron ships. The manufacture of venetian red was discontinued.
