Lease for Lives

Scope and Content

Part-printed lease for three lives from (1) Edward, Earl of Derby to (2) Edward Byrom the younger of Manchester, mercer. Consideration: surrender of the lease of a messuage and tenement, dated 27 August 1740, and £30. Property: lease of two cottages with workhouses in Salford, on the north side of a street called back Salford Street. Terms include the keeping of a dog for the use of the earl. Rent: 4s 6d.

Sealing: impressed red wax seal, heraldic design, with motto, on cloth tag. Endorsed with memorandum of livery of seisin, 20 January 1758.
