Scope and Content

Letter from Edward Chetham, Castleton, to Mrs Byrom, Kersal. He has prepared an answer to the gentlemen of the turf regarding their advertisements for horse-racing on Kersal Moor, which appeared in yesterday's Manchester newspaper. As it is intended as a joint reply, the response is somewhat milder in tone than the writer thinks is deserved. He intends to visit her before the end of the week to discover her opinion about an enclosure sent with the letter. He has heard that the town of Manchester steered clear of an invitation by the race stewards, much to the latter's chagrin.
