There are extensive official records relating to Marthall with Little Warford (also known as Marthall-cum-Warford); grid ref. SJ8075. The townships of Marthall with Little Warford, Peover Superior, and Snelson formed the chapelry of Over Peover in Rostherne parish, Cheshire. In 1840 the new parish of Marthall was formed, comprising the townships of Marthall with Little Warford, and Ollerton.
