North Wales Baptist College, Llangollen Minute Book

Scope and Content

Minute book of the Literary Society with details of debates etc.

Administrative / Biographical History

According to J. Gwynn Williams in his book, The University College of North Wales : Foundations 1884-1927 the connection between the Llangollen Baptist College and the University College of North Wales began in 1885. From 1884 onwards there had been talk of moving the College to Bangor; in 1891 the opposition of churches at Llangollen and its neighbourhood was overwhelmed by a heavy contingent of Baptist delegates from Anglesey and Caernarfonshire. In 1892 the North Wales Baptist College was welcomed to its new home at Caederwen, Bangor, its seventeen students being under the principalship of Gethin Davies.
