Scope and Content

This subgroup consists of posthumous material of a more general nature relating to RD. It was accumulated by John Donat over a long period, and includes papers relating to: RD's death, cremation ceremony and memorial service; tributes to RD; his final film The Inn of the Sixth Happiness; biographical interest in him, in particular the 1985 biography written by Kenneth Barrow, and Barry Norman's 1980-81 considerations of RD's film career (in the form of a television programme and accompanying book); miscellaneous printed matter relating to RD; four videos of his films acquired by John Donat; and a series of sound recordings of RD's readings, either released or re-recorded posthumously.

The papers are arranged in classes based on the format or subject-matter of the material, and where possible John Donat's original organization of the papers is followed.
