Margaret Davenport qualified MB ChB from the University of Manchester in 1947. She originally worked in general practice before undertaking pyschiatric training in her forties. Davenport was a consultant psychiatrist at Tameside Health Authority, and was an expert in child abuse. She was also director of family therapy training for NWRHA.
