Churches Together in England was formed in 1990 and came into being when the British Council of Churches was replaced by the Council of Churches in Britain and Ireland. Their basis and commitment is "Churches Together in England unites in pilgrimage those churches which, acknowledging God's revelation in Christ, confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures; and, in obedience to God's will and in the power of the Holy Spirit commit themselves".
