Correspondence and papers relating to efforts by Amalgamation to prove that byssinosis could affect workers in the mule rooms. The Amalgamation campaigned for the Industrial Diseases Advisory Council to recognise byssinosis in mule workers under the terms of the Industrial Injuries Act. The file includes correspondence with Professor Ronald Lane, Nuffield Department of Occupational Health, University of Manchester, who undertook examinations of mule spinners for evidence of byssinosis.
