Scope and Content

Correspondence and papers relating to efforts by the Amalgamation to have technical white oils used for lubricating all parts of the mule. The Mule Spinning (Health) Regulations of 1953 had only required use of such oils for the mule spindles, other parts of the mule, including the headstock could still use traditional mineral oils. In 1961 the employers' associations agreed to use technical white oils for all mule bearings.
