Scope and Content

The Institute for Development Policy and Management (IDPM), was established in 1987, following a reorganisation of the former Department of Overseas Administrative Studies. The IDPM subsequently built up a strong research record in areas such as development finance, sub-Saharan agriculture, and personnel management in a development context.

The file includes the background discussion to these developments including a paper by Professor Peter Bowden "DAS - possible directions" (1984) setting out the case for international development research at the University. Also covered is a proposed consortium for international development activity for the northern Universities.
