Scope and Content

The Institute was established in 1983 by the University with support from the European Cultural Foundation. Its purpose was to undertake research and related activities in media studies within a European context. The Institute was headed by a Director, George Wedell, and was supervised by an advisory committee, with both University and non-University members. The file include the original papers proposing the Centre, as well as discussion about its financing and governance arrangements.
