Scope and Content

Correspondence relating to a planned school of music at Liverpool. The correspondence reflects opposition to the plan from those associated with the Royal Manchester College of Music, which feared duplication of its work within the region. Stopford, as chairman of the RMCM's Council, was lobbied to communicate these criticisms to the Chief Education Officer of Liverpool Council, who was promoting the plan.
