Scope and Content

File of papers concerning the Department of English. Nearly all the material deals with routine administration only. Some of the more noteworthy papers include: English students at the University of Skopje following an earthquake there in 1963; the resignation of the poet Robin Skelton (1925-1997) from the Department following a dispute; visiting lecturers at the Department including U.S. Fulbright scholars; a memorandum by Professor H.B. Charlton giving his views on the subject of American Studies; the University's involvement with the Shakespeare Survey; and possible funding of a poetry fellowship by Guinness (this was unsuccessful).
