Scope and Content

Folder 1 consists of correspondence relating to the running of the School of Architecture between 1921-1923, following the withdrawal by Manchester Corporation from joint management and financing of the School in 1922. There is correspondence relating to arrangements for College of Technology lecturers to provide instruction at the School.

Folder 2 comprises papers concerning a proposal to establish a School of Building in the University within the Department of Architecture. The proposal was mooted by John Macfarlane on behalf of the Manchester branch of the Institute of Builders in June 1924. Some of the material reflects concerns of the College of Technology about their involvement in this scheme.
