The prints from 'The Old Stories' were loaned to Seven Stories by John Lawrence for use in the Tales for the Telling exhibition in 2000, and then permanently donated to Seven Stories once the exhibition ended. The prints for 'This Little Chick' were loaned to Seven Stories by John Lawrence for use in the Over the Hills exhibition in 2003, and then donated to Seven Stories once the exhibition ended. The rest of the material in this collection was donated to Seven Stories by John Lawrence in 2009.

Series of original artwork relating to 'The Christmas Cat' and 'The Christmas Ghost' by Robert Westall, first published in 1991 and 1992 respectively, and to the single-volume edition of the two stories, 'Christmas Spirit', published in 1995. The series contains a complete suite of original artwork, including cover artwork, for 'The Christmas Cat' and 'The Christmas Ghost' (these illustrations were reused for the publication of 'Christmas Spirit'); and a small quantity of supplementary artwork, including cover artwork, produced for the publication of 'Christmas Spirit' in 1995.
The Robert Westall Collection contains several files relating to the writing and publication of 'The Christmas Cat', 'The Christmas Ghost' and 'Christmas Spirit'. All of the mice figures in the illustrations appear only in silhouette, with larger-scale prints featuring only the detailed mice figures appearing separately in the file. These detailed mice figures were digitally composited over the silhouettes to form the final images which appear in the book.
