Frederic Whigham McConnel founded F W McConnel in 1935 in Worcestershire. He designed agricultural machinery, both on his own and jointly. He invented fruit graders, hop picking machinery, fruit and vegetable canning machinery and harvest thresher machinery. F W McConnel Ltd is now known as McConnel Ltd. The premises were located at Temeside Works, Ludlow, Salop
The records comprise mainly late 1960s and early 1970s advertising publications [TR MCC/P2/A] for a variety of McConnel equipment, including tractor coupled loaders, diggers, forklifts and hedgecutters, as well as pipe laying machines, transplanters, sawing machinery, seed and fertilizer spreaders and sheep's foot trimmers. There are also seven 1960s production films [TR MCC/P6], mostly produced by McConnel's subsidiary, Nu-Way Benson Ltd.
