John Massey Stewart is a photographer, writer, lecturer, and environmental activist with a special interest in Russia and the Russian far East. This collection primarily documents his visit to Mongolia in 1964 as part of a visiting British delegation before the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Papers of John Massey Stewart including newspaper clippings and ephemera from his trips to Mongolia.
Catalogued by Matt McKenize, RAS Volunteer, under the supervision of Nancy Charley, RAS Archivist, in 2022.
These were the personal papers of John Massey Stewart prior to their donation to the Royal Asiatic Society.
These papers were donated by John Massey Stewart in February 2022.

The archive is open on Tuesdays and Fridays 10-5, and Thursdays 2-5. Access is to any researcher without appointment but it will help if an appointment is made via phone or email. Please bring photo ID.
