This school was opened in 1873. Although separate from the senior schools it was seen as a preparatory school for them. The school closed in 1936 and a new council Infants school opened in Florence Park.
This school existed only briefly between 1881-1898. It was intended to be used by children between the Infants school and the senior schools.
This school was opened as a temporary elementary school in Cowley in 1930 for children living in the Public Assistance (Poor Law) Institution. It catered for pupils up to the age of 9. It closed on 11 June 1943, when the children and teacher transferred to Star Lane School in Marston.

This infants' school was located at 213-215 Cowley Road and appears to have been set up partly to cope with the influx of evacuees into the Cowley area during World War II.

This school was opened by the society of St John the Evangelist in 1867. It was originally intended to be mixed but became spilt into a boys school built on Princes' Street in 1871 (these records) and a girls school built on Cowley Road in 1880 (see S76/6). The two schools were merged together in September 1963 to form Cowley St John Upper School (see S76/7).
The sequence school log books and admissions registers are continued into S76/7.

This school was originally conceived as a mixed school (see S76/5) but became two separate schools with premises being built on Cowley Road in 1880. The school continued its separate existence until 1963 when it merged with the boys school to create Cowley St John Upper School.

This school, also known as Cowley St John Upper School, Cowley St John Secondary School and Cowley St John Comprehensive School, was formed in 1963 by the merger of the boys and girls schools. In 1972 it moved to a new site on the Donnington allotments off Cricket Road. In 1984 due to falling attendances it merged with St Edmund Campion Roman Catholic School and moved to a new site in Iffley Turn. The school later was renamed St Augustine of Canterbury RC/CE Upper School (please see S145/1 for records of this school).

This school was opened in St Mary's Road in October 1868. It was originally known as Robin Hood School, which was the name of the district of Cowley in which it was situated.

This school was opened in January 1893 in St Alban's church and moved to new premises in Hertford Street in 1896. It amalgamated with the Girls' School in 1950. Please see S76/10 for Managers Minutes 1903-1981.

This school was formed by the amalgamation of the Cowley St Mary's Infants' and Cowley SS Mary and John Boys' and Girls' Schools in 1950. At the time of cataloguing the school was located between two sites on Meadow Lane (formerly the site of East Oxford Middle School please see S76/12 for records of this school) and Hertford Street. The Managers minutes books concern both the Boys School (please see S76/9) and the Girls School (please see S76/10) and so have been catalogued here as they continue after the merger of the schools.

East Oxford British School opened in 1882 in Union Street, Cowley. In 1898 it was taken over by the School Board and later became a Council school. The school was rebuilt in 1899-1900 in three departments for girls, boys and infants. In 1948 the girls and boys schools were merged to form the East Oxford Secondary Modern School. This school continued until 1973 and the introduction of middle schools. The Union Street site became the East Oxford Primary School whilst a new school; East Oxford Middle School was created for the older children..
East Oxford Middle School opened at a new site in Meadow Lane in 1973. The school was later renamed the Isis Church of England Controlled Middle School. This school closed in 2003 and the site is now occupied by St Mary and St John Primary School (please see S76/11 for records of this school).
The plans for the East Oxford Councils Schools Special Subjects Centre have also been catalogued with this collection though it is not known if the building was ever constructed or where it was located.

Cardinal Newman Roman Catholic Middle School opened in 1990 on a site off Cricket Road, Cowley. It was formed by the merger of the John Bosco Roman Catholic Middle School (please see S75/10 for records of this school) and St Gregory's Roman Catholic Middle School. After the closure of the middle schools in 2003 the school merged with St Augustine of Canterbury RC/CE Upper School (please see S76/7 for records of this school) to form St Gregory the Great School.
