These deeds were originally given to Buckinghamshire Record Office via the British Record Association with the BRA number 858. In 1953 the papers were transferred to the Bodleian Library, where they were catalogued as Ms. D.D.Ledwell c.1-17, and then transferred again to Oxfordshire Archives in 1977, where they were assigned the Accession Number 1437.
The documents mostly concern the Manor of Studley and Horton, which had been in the possession of the Croke family, until Charlotte Croke married William Ledwell in 1727. More extensive records concerning the Crokes may be found at E
