Administrative/Biographical History compiled with reference to
Villiers Barcham Vaughan Powell was born in 1904 and educated at Christ's College, Christchurch, New Zealand; and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, England.
In 1927 he was appointed as Superintendent of Education in Nigeria; he became Principal in 1944. Whilst in Nigeria, Powell also worked with Nigerian sports teams, this included being (sometime) General Team Manager of the Nigerian Olympic Team.
Reports, diaries, correspondence, photographs and press cuttings relating to various international tours made by Nigerian sports teams, 1948-1964, including participation in Olympic Games, as sometime General Team Manager.
