Administrative history
The
Glasgow International Exhibition,
1901
was held at Kelvingrove Park from the 2nd May to the 9th May
1901
. It
attracted 11.5 million visitors. The exhibition had an industrial hall, a grand
concert hall, a fine arts section, and exhibition halls for Russia and Canada.
In
1911
, Glasgow
hosted the Scottish Exhibition of Natural History, Art and Industry, once again
held at Kelvingrove between the 3rd May and 4th November, and attended by 9.4
million visitors. This exhibition had Kelvin Hall, a palace of history, a
palace of art and a concert hall. The Empire Exhibition took place in
1938
in
Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, and attracted 12.6 million visitors when it ran
from the 3rd May to the 29th October. This exhibition had a palace of industry,
a palace of engineering and an amusement park.
